Vicodin
Treatment
Vicodin ® treats
pain. Physicians prescribe Vicodin ® to relief
moderate to severe pain, typically due to cancer, surgery,
or serious injury. The drug blends a synthetic narcotic
known as hydrocodone bitartrate with acetaminophen
in a single dose, more potent than either drug taken
alone. (And much more dangerous!) Potentially, Vicodin
® can hook somebody within one week of use.
Vicodin ®, a chemical cousin to Heroin, travels
through the body and brain’s neurological pathways
(like Heroin) to stop the perception of pain. Vicodin
also activates of the body’s main neurotransmitter,
called dopamine. The stimulated dopamine then triggers
acute euphoria. The intensity of sensation -- or ‘rush’ — keeps
users coming back for more. And yet more, afterwards,
which gives Vicodin ® it very addictive qualities.
Before You Take Vicodin ®
Pharmaceutical companies caution patients not to
use Vicodin ®, or instead to discuss its use with
a doctor, if they have:
- an allergy to acetaminophen (Tylenol) or hydrocodone
- an allergy to any drugs
- Addison's disease or other adrenal gland disorders
- asthma, COPD, sleep apnea, or other breathing
disorders
- cirrhosis (alcoholic liver disease).
- curvature of the spine
- history of head injury or brain tumor
- liver or kidney disease
- low blood pressure
- history of mental illness
- stomach or intestinal disorder
- under-active thyroid
- history of drug or alcohol addiction.
If you have ever had cirrhosis of the liver or
consume more than 3 alcoholic beverages per day,
your doctor may not be able to prescribe you Vicodin
medication. Vicodin ® could harm an expectant patient’s
unborn baby, and may cause respiratory, addiction,
or withdrawal problems in a newborn (FDA pregnancy
category C).
Vicodin’s Hydrocodone component has the potential
to be habit-forming. Therefore, it should never be
given to another person, especially not to someone
with an addiction habit or history of drug abuse.
If you have been feeling the effects of a Vicodin
dependency, or seen them in someone in you love, the
Waismann Method offers humane rapid
detoxification from Vicodin ®,
painkillers, or other opiate drugs.
